Spiced Hot Chocolate Recipe

Ingredients
- 2 cups of milk
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Cinnamon sticks (optional)
Cooking Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, heavy cream, sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cayenne pepper, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture comes to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-10 minutes or until the hot chocolate has thickened slightly.
- Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with whipped cream (if desired) and a cinnamon stick for garnish.
