Lavender Lemonade

Lavender Lemonade Recipe

Lavender lemonade is a refreshing and unique twist on classic lemonade. The combination of tart lemon and sweet floral lavender creates a perfectly balanced and flavorful drink. It's perfect for sipping on a hot summer day, or for serving at a picnic or barbecue.

Growing up, my grandmother always had a large garden filled with herbs and flowers. One of my favorite memories is of her making lavender lemonade on a hot summer day. The scent of the lavender and the taste of the lemonade always transported me to a peaceful and happy place. Now, as an adult, I love recreating this recipe and sharing it with friends and family.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice (about 6-8 lemons)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/4 cup fresh lavender blossoms (make sure they are culinary grade and not sprayed with pesticides)
  • ice cubes
  • additional lavender sprigs and lemon slices for garnish (optional)

Cooking Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the honey. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the honey has dissolved.
  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and add the lavender blossoms. Steep for 10-15 minutes, depending on how strong you want the lavender flavor to be.
  3. Strain the lavender honey mixture into a large pitcher.
  4. Add the lemon juice and remaining 5 cups of water to the pitcher and stir well.
  5. Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or until ready to serve.
  6. Serve over ice and garnish with lavender sprigs and lemon slices, if desired.

Serving Suggestions

Lavender lemonade is perfect for serving at outdoor gatherings, such as picnics, barbecues, or garden parties. It pairs well with light and fresh summer foods, such as salads, sandwiches, and fruit. It's also a great non-alcoholic option for those who don't drink or for children.
