Recipe: Chocolate Lava Cake
Chocolate Lava Cake, also known as Molten Chocolate Cake or Chocolate Fondant, is a decadent dessert that is sure to impress your guests. It has a crispy exterior and a gooey, chocolatey center that oozes out when you cut into it. This dessert is perfect for a special occasion or a romantic dinner for two.
I first discovered this dessert while dining at a fancy restaurant. I was blown away by the presentation and the taste. I knew I had to recreate it at home. Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, plus extra for greasing
- 8 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Fresh berries, for garnish (optional)
Cooking Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F. Grease 6 ramekins with butter and dust them with flour. Tap out any excess flour.
- In a double boiler, melt the butter and chocolate together, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the sugar, eggs, and egg yolks together until pale and frothy.
- Add the chocolate mixture to the egg mixture and stir until well combined.
- Sift the flour and salt into the chocolate mixture and stir until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared ramekins, filling them 2/3 of the way full.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is still slightly jiggly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for 1-2 minutes. Run a knife around the edge of each ramekin and invert onto a plate.
- Dust with powdered sugar and garnish with fresh berries, if desired. Serve immediately.
