Beef Stroganoff

Beef stroganoff is a classic dish that originated in Russia. It is a hearty and comforting meal that is perfect for a cozy night in.   • 1 pound beef sirloin, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Cooking Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the beef strips and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until browned.
  3. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add the onions and garlic to the same skillet and cook until translucent.
  5. Add the mushrooms and cook for another 5 minutes, until they release their juices.
  6. Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir to combine.
  7. Slowly pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  8. Add the paprika, salt, and pepper and stir to combine.
  9. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
  10. Stir in the sour cream and return the beef to the skillet. Cook for another 5 minutes, until the beef is heated through.
  11. Serve over a bed of cooked egg noodles or rice, garnished with chopped parsley.
