A Personal Story

I first came up with this recipe when I was in college and didn't have access to a full kitchen. All I had was a small hot plate, so I needed to come up with something that was quick and easy to make, but still tasted great. That's when I came up with this recipe, and I've been making it ever since.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup white wine (or chicken broth)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)

Cooking Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and cook for 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
  3. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until pink and cooked through.
  4. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Pour the white wine (or chicken broth) into the skillet and stir to combine with the garlic and oil.
  6. Add the lemon juice to the skillet and stir to combine.
  7. Season the sauce with salt and pepper, to taste.
  8. Add the shrimp back to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped parsley (if using).
